Our large
print book collection is constantly being updated.
Included in this collection are bestsellers, fiction,
mysteries, biographies, and non-fiction titles.
Audio
Books on CD and Cassette
Our audio
collection includes fiction and nonfiction titles, in
both CD and cassette formats. Many of these titles are
unabridged editions, often read by the authors. And of
course, we have a wide range of music CDs to choose
from.
Senior
Programming
Every
month the library offers a variety of events,
programs, and workshops geared toward our senior
patrons. These include concerts, health related
workshops, fitness classes, financial seminars, and
movies. In May we celebrate Senior Month with
special activities. Please refer to our bi-monthly
newsletter, The Source, for complete listings.
Zoom
Text Computer Access
Zoom Text
is a powerful computer access solution designed for
the visually impaired. Consisting of two adaptive
technologies, screen magnification and screen reading,
Zoom Text allows you to see and hear everything on the
computer screen, providing complete access to
applications, documents, e-mail, and the Internet. Our
Zoom Text computer is in the Adult Reference area of
the Library.

Magnification
Reading System
A CCTV
Reader is an magnification system that captures
a video image of printed materials and displays it on
a television screen so that it may be read more
comfortably by the visually impaired. With this
device users can view a wide range
of printed materials including catalogs, photographs,
books, magazines, or letter, while adjusting the size,
contrast, and color of the image. Located near the
Adult Reference Desk, this device was a gift of the
Babylon Lions Club.
Library
Adventures Bus Trips
The
library sponsors frequent bus trips to exciting
destinations in New York and surrounding states. Costs
include transportation, admissions, gratuity, and,
often, lunch. Recent destinations include the
Philadelphia Flower Show, Ellis Island and Little
Italy, Longwood Gardens, Mohonk Mountain House, Long
Island Gold Coast Mansions, and Amish Country. Refer
to the library newsletter for upcoming trips or
contact the Reference Desk.
Senior
Mentoring for Computers
West Islip
High School student volunteers are available to assist
our senior patrons learn how to
use a computer. Please stop by the Adult Reference
Desk to learn how to sign up for this program.
