West Islip Historical Society (old website)

Thiry-five years ago, Jerry and Judith Wilcox researched and wrote the "First History of West Islip." They were ardent local historians and also pioneered the now-closed West Islip Community Museum, which was housed in the Community Center on Higbie Lane. Their daughter has given us permission to post a digital version of this book for all to enjoy.
This is a large PDF file (36 MB) that you can save to your computer
and read at your leisure.

Do you have any old photographs or documents that refer to West Islip?
If you'd like to share them, please contact us and we'll set up an appointment
to copy them while you wait. We hope this page will grow into a rich collection
of historical West Islip information, and welcome any contributions.
