Students in grades 9-12 read three official “Battle” books, remember as much details as you can and compete in a trivia contest against other Suffolk County libraries. The Battle of the Books is a countywide competition of young adults representing participating Suffolk County public libraries. The competition took place on Saturday, August 13th at Stony Brook University. Teams answered trivia questions based on eight different books and scored points for their team with each correct answer. West Islip’s Team name was Angry Birds MMARCH to Battle! The members of this year’s team were Meghan Bevan, Caitlin Yilmaz, Hannah Kim, Rachel Hunter, Molly McLaughlin, and Anna Hightower. Special thanks to assistant coaches Emily Anne O’Neill and Gabby Amico.
